"Streetlights," released in 1974 on Warner Bros. Records, is Bonnie Raitt's fourth album, produced by Jerry Ragovoy — known for his work with Janis Joplin and Dionne Warwick. Recorded at The Hit Factory in New York with drummer Steve Gadd and orchestral arrangements by Dave Matthews and Larry Wilcox, the album marked a deliberate pivot from Raitt's earlier blues-rooted sound toward polished pop and R&B. It alienated portions of her folk and blues audience at the time and is often regarded as a transitional record in her catalog — but her slide guitar and voice remain the consistent thread across the shift in surroundings, and the album documents her early search for commercial footing before her 1989 breakthrough with "Nick of Time."
