Together Again / My Heart Skips a Beat

Buck Owens and His Buckaroos

Album · 1964

Together Again / My Heart Skips a Beat, released in 1964 on Capitol, pairs two of Buck Owens's biggest singles on one Bakersfield-country LP recorded with the original Buckaroos — Don Rich on lead guitar and harmony vocal, Tom Brumley on steel, Doyle Holly on bass, Willie Cantu on drums. Owens cut both title tracks at the peak of his commercial run, with "My Heart Skips a Beat" and "Together Again" topping the country charts in 1964 as a double-sided single. The record sits outside bluegrass proper but its songs — particularly "Together Again" — have been so thoroughly absorbed into the bluegrass standard repertoire that the album functions as source material. The catalog year of 1995 appears to reflect a later reissue rather than the original 1964 release.
