Helen Carter was a Virginia-born singer and multi-instrumentalist who, with mother Maybelle and sisters June and Anita, formed The Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle — a Grand Ole Opry act from 1950 onward whose songwriting included "Rosanna's Going Wild" (a 1968 hit for brother-in-law Johnny Cash).
