Pete Corum

Pete Corum was a North Carolina-born bassist and tenor singer who anchored Lester Flatt's Nashville Grass through the late 1970s and Curly Seckler's continuation after Flatt's 1979 death — a longtime tenor with James Monroe's Midnight Ramblers whose signature song was the traditional "House of the Rising Sun."

- Played bass with Lester Flatt & the Nashville Grass during the mid-to-late 1970s; remained with the band under Curly Seckler's leadership after Flatt's 1979 death.
- Filled in on bass with Bill Monroe & the Blue Grass Boys in 1971 and a few times during the 1980s.
- Toured with James Monroe & The Midnight Ramblers, playing bass and singing tenor.
- Left Nashville Grass in October 1981 to play in the Cotton Patch String Band for the off-Broadway musical "Cotton Patch Gospel" in New York City.
- His signature song for many years was the traditional "House of the Rising Sun."
- Passed away December 1, 2021 at age 73; a memorial service drew many bluegrass stars.
