Bloodline, released in 2010 on Rural Rhythm (RHY 1064), is the debut album from the Darrell Webb Band, Webb's first project as bandleader after stints with the Lonesome River Band, Wildfire, and J.D. Crowe and the New South. Webb (lead vocals, guitar, mandolin) fronts a quartet with Jeremy Arrowood on tenor vocals and upright bass, Asa Gravley on guitar, and Chris Wade on banjo, with Tyler Kirkpatrick on Dobro. The session was tracked at Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. The repertoire is hard-driving traditional bluegrass leaning on character-driven narrative songs and country crossovers — Johnnie and Jack, Merle Haggard — recast in bluegrass form, all written by others despite Webb's own track record as a co-writer with Lou Reid and Lonesome River Band.
