Carolina Roots is a 2021 album by the Krüger Brothers and the Keiser Twins, self-released under all four musicians' names. Swiss-born brothers Jens Krüger (five-string banjo) and Uwe Krüger (guitar, lead vocals)—who emigrated to Wilkes County, North Carolina, in the mid-1990s and built their sound on Doc Watson, Flatt & Scruggs, and Bill Monroe—are joined by fellow Swiss musicians Peter Keiser (bass) and Walter Keiser (drums), whose mother was the celebrated yodeler Martha Mumenthaler. The Krüger Brothers and the Keiser Twins had maintained a transatlantic creative friendship for decades before formalizing it on record. The eleven-track set draws on original compositions and traditional material, including covers of Bob Dylan and Curtis Mayfield, blending the Krügers' North Carolina–absorbed bluegrass sensibility with the Keisers' rhythm section.
