Cherokee Pioneer cover

Cherokee Pioneer (Curb Records, 2025) is the debut album from Pitney Meyer — the bluegrass duo of Mo Pitney (guitar, vocals) and John Meyer (banjo, vocals), formed through years of Nashville jam sessions and a sold-out Station Inn residency. Supporting personnel includes Nate Burie (mandolin), Blake Pitney (bass), Ivy Phillips (fiddle), and Jenee Fleenor (fiddle). The eleven tracks were recorded entirely to analog tape over three days at Storytellers Hideaway Farm in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, inside an 1837 log cabin once owned by Johnny Cash. Thematically the record engages Native American history — the Trail of Tears figures in several originals — alongside gospel and high-lonesome traditional bluegrass, establishing the duo as a serious new voice in the genre.
