"Cherryholmes II: Black and White," released in June 2007 on Skaggs Family Records, is the second album by the Cherryholmes family ensemble — father Jere (bass, guitar), mother Sandy (guitar, fiddle, mandolin), daughters Cia (banjo) and Molly (fiddle), and sons Skip (mandolin) and B.J. Nashville songwriter Larry Cordle appears as a guest. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart, building on the success of the family's self-titled debut — which had earned a Grammy nomination in 2006 and the IBMA Entertainer of the Year award in 2005. Hard-driving traditional bluegrass anchors the set, and the family wrote or co-wrote the majority of the material, establishing Cherryholmes as one of the decade's most distinctive acts in the genre.
