Close to Home is a gospel album by the Purple Hulls, the twin sisters Katy Lou and Penny Lea Clark from East Texas, released on 9 April 2012 on Banjo Ben Records. Their brother Ben Clark, known as Banjo Ben, plays on the album too, and the three of them between them cover guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano and accordion. The Purple Hulls and Andy Leftwich are credited as co-producers, and the album was recorded at Skaggs Place Studio.
Leftwich plays fiddle, guitar and mandolin. Rob Ickes adds slide and resonator guitar on most of the album, Byron House plays bass, and Stan Saxon is on percussion. Bryan Sutton plays guitar on two tracks and Jeff Hyde plays guitar and sings harmony on one. All three Clarks sing on most tracks. The hymns include “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “How Deep the Father’s Love” and “Higher Ground,” and “Be Thou My Vision” is played as an instrumental. The record closes with the title song.
