Steve Earle's El Corazón, released on E-Squared and Warner Bros. Records (9 46789-2) in October 1997, is his seventh studio album and the record that planted the seed for his full bluegrass collaboration with the Del McCoury Band. On "I Still Carry You Around," Del McCoury plays guitar and sings; Ronnie McCoury, mandolin; Rob McCoury, banjo; Jason Carter, fiddle; and Mike Bub, bass—the McCoury Band's sole, track-specific appearance on the album. Additional guests include Emmylou Harris and the Fairfield Four. The Associated Press named the record one of the ten best pop albums of the 1990s; it was Earle's second release following his post-addiction comeback, confirming a creative restoration that the full McCoury collaboration The Mountain would deepen.
