Flatt on Victor, released by RCA in 1971, is Lester Flatt's debut album after the dissolution of Flatt and Scruggs — recorded in November and December 1970 at RCA Victor Studio in Nashville with the Nashville Grass lineup he had built around former Foggy Mountain Boys Paul Warren, Josh Graves, and Jake Tullock, plus banjoist Vic Jordan and mandolinist Roland White. Produced by Chet Atkins and Bob Ferguson, the album shows Flatt comfortable with the traditionalist sound he had defended within the old partnership, working through a laid-back program of bluegrass standards and oldies. The lead single I Can't Tell the Boys From the Girls had appeared in January 1971; the LP that followed established the Nashville Grass as the working band of his late career.
