FolkJazz Trio cover

"David Grisman's FolkJazz Trio," released in 2011 on Grisman's own Acoustic Disc label (ACD-76), is a studio trio recording featuring Grisman (mandolin, mandola, tenor guitar, guitar, vocals), Jim Hurst (guitar, vocals), and Samson Grisman (bass, vocals — David's son). The album came together after Grisman attended a Hurst solo performance in Sonoma County and was moved to form the trio. The repertoire — ranging from Stephen Foster to John Hartford and Skip James, roughly half vocal and half instrumental — sits between the jazz-forward David Grisman Quintet and the more traditionally rooted Bluegrass Experience in his catalog, and was released in a high-definition 24-bit/96kHz format as well as standard CD. Note: personnel cache lists Lester Armistead as bassist — the confirmed bassist on this recording is Samson Grisman.
