Friends of Old Time Music, released by Folkways in 1964, is a multi-artist live compilation drawn from concerts presented by the New York-based nonprofit of the same name, which had been founded in 1960 to bring traditional southern musicians north for college and concert audiences. The Stanley Brothers are featured on four cuts from their second FOTM appearance, in New York on November 30, 1962, including Rabbit in the Log, Come All Ye Tender Hearted, and Little Birdie. The recordings catch the brothers at the moment the folk revival had begun to take serious notice of them, and stand as documentation of how a working southern band sounded in a Manhattan concert hall.
