I Can Tell You the Time, recorded February 6, 1985 at Maggard Sound Studio in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and released by Rebel Records (Rebel 1637), is a Ralph Stanley gospel album from the long stretch in which Charlie Sizemore anchored the Clinch Mountain Boys' lead vocals. The title song was one of the first the Stanley Brothers had recorded — for Rich-R-Tone in 1947 — and Ralph's return to it nearly forty years later traces the long arc of his working life. The other selections lean into the sacred repertoire that had become the dominant strand of his late-1980s output. Like several other Rebel-era Ralph Stanley LPs, the album has never been reissued on CD.
