I'll Wander Back Someday by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, released on Sugar Hill in 1988, finds Lawson's band settled into the mature style that had made them one of the most admired traditional outfits of the decade. Lawson, who had served stints with J.D. Crowe and the Country Gentlemen before forming Quicksilver in 1979, built a band that specialized in vocal precision and tight, clean ensemble playing.
