Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver were among the most influential bluegrass and bluegrass-gospel acts of the past four decades, pairing tight four-part vocal arrangements with driving instrumental work under mandolinist and bandleader Doyle Lawson, who retired the band at the end of 2021 after a 60-year career on the road.

- Formed in April 1979, after Lawson left the Country Gentlemen, with Jimmy Haley on guitar, Lou Reid on bass, and Terry Baucom on banjo.
