"In Session," released in January 2015 on Mountain Home Music Company (MH-15732), is a studio album by Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver — the band's fortieth record — featuring Dustin Pyrtle (guitar, vocals), Eli Johnston (bass, vocals), Joe Dean (banjo), Josh Swift (dobro), and Stephen Burwell (fiddle). The album received a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album at the 58th Grammy Awards, the group's fifth overall nomination, and debuted in the top ten on the Billboard Bluegrass chart. Despite its title, "In Session" is a studio recording rather than a live document, representing the second consecutive Grammy-nominated album from this stable lineup — "Burden Bearer" (2016) followed with another nomination — confirming the ensemble as among the most consistently recognized in the band's long history.
