The Original Band is a Sugar Hill Records compilation released on 16 February 1999 (SHCD-2210). It is a remastered HDCD that puts two early Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver LPs on one disc: the 1979 album Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver (Sugar Hill SH 3708), whose eleven songs make up the first eleven tracks, and the 1982 album Quicksilver Rides Again (SH 3727), whose eleven songs follow.

Both LPs were made by the same four-man band: Doyle Lawson on mandolin, Jimmy Haley on guitar, Terry Baucom on banjo and Lou Reid on bass, all four singing. Bobby Hicks and Jerry Douglas guest on the 1979 LP, on fiddle and dobro. On the 1982 LP Sam Bush plays fiddle, with Mike Auldridge and Jerry Douglas on dobro. Barry Poss produced the reissue, David Glasser remastered it, and Tim Stafford wrote the liner notes.
