Drive Time is a seven-song release from Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, issued by Mountain Home Music Company (MH-13452) on 29 March 2011 and running about 25 minutes. Lawson produced it, and it was recorded at 2013 Recording Studio in Greenbrier, Tennessee. Lawson plays mandolin; the credits also name Mike Rogers (guitar, drums, vocals), Jessie Baker (banjo), Jason Barie (fiddle), Josh Swift (dobro, bass, drums, bass vocal), Corey Hensley (bass, vocals) and Carl White (bass). Lawson had recently brought former Quicksilver bassist Carl White back to play drums with the band.
The opening track, “Gone at Last,” is Paul Simon’s song, and the band later sang with Simon on “Dazzling Blue” for his album So Beautiful or So What. “Love on Arrival,” a Dan Seals song, went to radio as the single. The set also includes “Country Store,” the hymn “Precious Memories,” and a mandolin instrumental by Lawson. The arrangements use electric bass and a snare-drum backbeat.
