I'll Wear a White Robe (Rebel REB 1590, 1980) is a bluegrass gospel album recorded March 9, 1979, at Lowell Varney's Riverside Recording Studio in Crum, West Virginia. Charlie Sizemore — the Clinch Mountain Boys' lead vocalist and frontman through the mid-1970s into the early 1980s — handles rhythm guitar and lead vocals throughout. Junior Blankenship carries dual duty on lead guitar and mandolin; Jack Cooke holds down the bass; and Curly Ray Cline's expressive fiddle is a constant presence. Produced by Charles R. Freeland, the album reflects the stripped-down, mountain-church intensity that defined Stanley's gospel recordings for Rebel across this period and showcases Sizemore at the height of his time as the band's primary vocal anchor.
