In Europe cover

In Europe (Wam Records 69.024) is a studio album from Bill Clifton, the Riderwood, Maryland-born traditional bluegrass performer who became one of the genre's most important international ambassadors through his extensive performing and recording career in the United Kingdom and Europe, recorded here with a combination of American and European musicians on a European independent label. Clifton plays guitar and sings; William "Red" Rector plays mandolin; Clarence "Tater" Tate plays fiddle; John Palmer holds the bass; Billy Edwards contributes guitar work; and Jean-Blaise Rochat plays additional instruments. The combination of American veterans (Rector, Tate, Palmer, and Edwards, all with roots in the classic bluegrass ensembles of the 1950s and 1960s) and the Swiss musician Rochat in a European recording context reflects the international community that had grown around traditional American bluegrass by the time Clifton's sustained European career had established its most productive phase.
