Inside Llewyn Davis: Original Soundtrack Recording (Nonesuch Records, 2013) is the companion album to Joel and Ethan Coen's film set in the New York City folk music scene of 1961, produced by T Bone Burnett. Oscar Isaac — who plays the film's protagonist, the struggling folk singer Llewyn Davis — performs the primary vocal tracks, including "Hang Me, Oh Hang Me," "Fare Thee Well (Dink's Song)," and "Please Mr. Kennedy"; Marcus Mumford contributes vocals on the last. The program draws from the early 1960s folk revival repertoire — traditional ballads, topical songs, and jug-band pieces — in period-appropriate acoustic arrangements under Burnett's direction. The soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media in 2015, and Isaac's performances brought sustained critical attention for the range and authenticity of his folk singing.
