Kentucky Blue is a 1975 album released by the Bluegrass Alliance on American Heritage Records (AH 401-522), recorded at Starday Studio in Nashville. The Louisville-based ensemble features an eighteen-year-old Vince Gill (guitar, dobro, vocals) in one of his earliest professional studio appearances—years before his tenure with Pure Prairie League and his eventual solo country stardom—alongside Lonnie Peerce (fiddle), Bill Millet (banjo), Al White (mandolin), Marshall Billingsly (bass), and steel guitarist Buddy Emmons. Led by Peerce, the Bluegrass Alliance served as a significant incubator for young talent during the 1970s bluegrass revival, with Gill's appearance here a notable early document of a future mainstream country star.
