Lovin’, Fightin’, Losin’ Sleep, from Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers on Billy Blue Records in 2025, catches one of traditional bluegrass’s most dependable working bands in stride. Mullins — banjo player, broadcaster, and one of the music’s busiest institution-builders — leads a lineup of Adam McIntosh on guitar, Chris Davis on mandolin, Jason Barie on fiddle, and Zach Collier on bass through ten tracks that balance new material with well-chosen revivals. Among the latter is “The Bluebirds Are Singing for Me,” the Mac Wiseman–credited standard, taken at the hard-driving clip the Ramblers are known for. The album’s title telegraphs its temperament: songs of love, trouble, and restlessness delivered with radio-honed polish and no wasted motion.
