Lucky Drive (Rounder 11661-0562-2, 2005) is Open Road's third Rounder album, produced by Sally Van Meter and featuring Bradford Lee Folk (guitar, lead vocals), Caleb Roberts (mandolin), Keith Reed (banjo), Eric Thorin (bass), and Nashville fiddler Jimmy Mattingly — best known for his long tenure with Garth Brooks — whose polished, road-tested style lends the record a country-bluegrass warmth. Folk, Roberts, Reed, and Thorin provide continuity from the previous album while Mattingly's presence opens new tonal possibilities. The album continued the band's commercially successful Rounder run and showcases original songwriting alongside traditional repertoire, with the title track highlighting Folk's dry, observational storytelling.
