Mile Twelve

Album · 2015 · No label No #

Mile Twelve is the band’s first release, a six-song EP put out on 10 June 2015 without a label. The four players are Evan Murphy on guitar and lead vocals, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes on fiddle, Catherine “BB” Bowness on banjo and Nate Sabat on bass; Murphy, Keith-Hynes and Sabat also sing. Michael Reese recorded and mixed it in Sudbury, Massachusetts, and produced it with the band; David Glasser mastered it at Airshow Mastering.

Sabat wrote “Heartbroken,” “Rooftop Graveyard” and “Out of Me,” and Murphy wrote “Ain’t Coming Back” and “33 Good Years.” The sixth song, “Our Last Goodbye,” was written by Carter Stanley and appears on Stanley Brothers collections such as The Best of the Stanley Brothers on Mercury. The band is based in Boston and takes its name from the mile marker at the city’s southern border.

The album Onwards followed on 27 October 2017, recorded in March of that year at Tunesmith Studio in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, with David Benedict on mandolin. The IBMA gave Mile Twelve its Momentum Award in the band category on 27 September 2017 and named it New Artist of the Year on 1 October 2020. Keith-Hynes left in 2021 and later joined Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway.
