New Day (Rebel REB 1678, 1989) captures Lost & Found at a moment of deliberate renewal, with the core of Allen Mills (bass, lead vocals) and Dempsey Young (mandolin, vocals) joined by Ronnie Bowman (guitar, vocals) and Jody King. Bowman — who would later rise to prominence with the Lonesome River Band and as a respected Nashville country songwriter — brought his warm baritone to the band during a two-year stint around 1987–1989. The album reflects the straight-ahead Virginia bluegrass tradition the group had championed since its 1973 founding: tight four-part harmony, spare acoustic arrangements, and original material balanced against classic-era repertoire. New Day documents one of the more cohesive mid-career Lost & Found lineups before the personnel shifts of the early 1990s.
