Sky Blue is a 2019 posthumous release by Townes Van Zandt on TVZ Records and Fat Possum (FP1706), drawn from solo acoustic recordings made in January and February 1973 at the Atlanta home studio of journalist and musician Bill Hedgepeth. Van Zandt (guitar, vocals) performs eleven tracks entirely alone, including two previously unheard originals, a reworked "Blue Ridge Mountains," and covers of Richard Dobson and Tom Paxton alongside established Van Zandt standards. Released on what would have been Van Zandt's 75th birthday, with a limited pressing of 1,500 copies on sky-blue vinyl, the album surfaces a crisply recorded early-1970s session that complements the contemporaneous Live at the Old Quarter recordings.
