Songs of Love and Life is an album released by the Traditional Grass on Rebel Records (REB-1721), the Ohio-based family band's fourth and final recording for the label. Joe Mullins (banjo, vocals) and Paul Mullins (fiddle, vocals) anchor a quintet featuring Mark Rader (guitar, vocals), Gerald Evans Jr. (mandolin, vocals), and Mike Clevenger (bass), with session dobro contributed by Gene Wooten. The Traditional Grass—grounded in straight-ahead mountain bluegrass—recorded four albums for Rebel between 1992 and 1995 before the band dissolved. Joe Mullins later founded Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers, becoming one of the most celebrated bandleaders in contemporary bluegrass and a multi-term IBMA Entertainer of the Year.
