Speakeasy Man cover

Speakeasy Man (self-released, 2014) is Rachel Baiman's debut solo album, blending Appalachian old-time fiddle with Scottish folk traditions — half recorded in Dunkeld, Scotland and half in Nashville. Baiman, who grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and performs in the fiddle duo 10 String Symphony with Christian Sedelmyer, plays fiddle and sings throughout; Sedelmyer appears on the title track. Jim Cornell (guitar, mandolin) and Kim Gardner (vocals, bass) contribute as supporting players. Released January 9, 2014, the album was nominated for an Independent Music Award in the Americana category and established Baiman as a distinctive voice in new-generation old-time and Americana — an artist equally rooted in Appalachian and Celtic traditions.
