Standing Tall and Tough is a 2014 album by Crowe, Lawson & Williams released on Mountain Home Records (MH-15022), reuniting three alumni of Jimmy Martin's Sunny Mountain Boys: J.D. Crowe (banjo), Doyle Lawson (guitar, lead vocals), and Paul Williams (mandolin, tenor vocals). The three had each played in Martin's band in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and the set leans heavily on the Jimmy Martin songbook alongside Louvin Brothers material. The session adds Jason Barie (fiddle), Tim Surrett (bass), and Josh Swift (resophonic guitar). Note: the catalog lists Buddy Melton, Keith McKinnon, and Pete Kelly in the personnel; none appears in the documented credits for this recording. Reviews singled out Williams's tenor and mandolin as particular highlights, noting both had lost none of their power.
