Talkin' to Myself is a 2000 album by the Lonesome River Band during a period of transition following the departure of Sammy Shelor. The band had built a reputation for powerful vocal harmony and a sound positioned at the harder edge of the contemporary traditional spectrum. 'Harvest Time,' 'Swing That Hammer,' and 'Willow Garden' suggest a repertoire that balanced original bluegrass writing with the older labor and folk material that gave the genre its deepest roots. The Lonesome River Band was working to establish a post-Shelor identity, still recognizably the band that had made its name, but finding new footing.
