The Old Grey Mare is a 2001 Rounder Select album (82161-0426-2) by Leroy Troy, produced by Marty Stuart. Troy (born Troy Boswell, 1966), a Goodlettsville, Tennessee–born clawhammer banjoist and entertainer, is a Grand Ole Opry regular mentored by Roy Acuff and Grandpa Jones and a practitioner of the nineteenth-century banjo comedy tradition descending from Uncle Dave Macon. The session features Charlie Cushman — Nashville studio banjoist and later IBMA Banjo Player of the Year — and John "Johnny" Warren on fiddle, son of Foggy Mountain Boys fiddler Paul Warren. Troy's major-label debut, the album presents old-time country songs and instrumental novelties in the theatrical, crowd-pleasing style Troy cultivated on the Opry stage and at festivals across the South.
