The Red Album cover

The Red Album (self-released, 2014) is Red Molly's fifth studio album and the second recorded with Molly Venter, who joined in 2010 when founding member Carolann Solebello departed. Produced by Ken Coomer, the album showcases the three-part harmony of Abbie Gardner (guitar, dobro, lap steel), Laurie MacAllister (guitar, banjo), and Venter through original material and covers — including Richard Thompson's "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," the song for which the band is named. The record spent sixteen weeks on the Americana Radio Top 40, peaking at #10, and topped the Folk DJ Radio Chart for the entire calendar year of 2014 — the group's highest-charting and most commercially successful release.
