Trio II is a 1999 album by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris released on Asylum Records (62275-2), the follow-up to their celebrated 1987 debut. Recorded in 1994 at The Site in Marin County, California, and produced by George Massenburg and John Starling, the sessions sat unreleased for five years while label disputes stalled the project. The backing ensemble draws on acoustic luminaries: David Grisman (mandolin), Alison Krauss (fiddle), Roy Huskey Jr. (bass), John Starling and Mark Casstevens (acoustic guitar), and Ben Keith (pedal steel). The three principals share lead and harmony vocals throughout a repertoire spanning country gospel ("Lover's Return"), folk ("After the Gold Rush"), and Appalachian balladry ("The Blue Train"). Note: the catalog lacks a label entry; the original release is Asylum 62275-2.
