"When I Look Back," released in 2007 on Hadley Music Group Records (HMG 1002) — the label's inaugural full release — is the bluegrass debut of Virginia-born singer-songwriter Donna Ulisse. Produced by Keith Sewell, who also plays guitar, the album features Scott Vestal (banjo), Andy Leftwich (fiddle, mandolin), Randy Kohrs (dobro), Byron House (bass), Jesse Cobb (mandolin), and Curtis Wright (backing vocals). All 14 tracks were written or co-written by Ulisse, who had recorded two country albums for Atlantic Records in the early 1990s before returning to music with a full pivot to bluegrass. Described critically as a "bluegrass poet," she went on to release nine albums with Hadley Music Group through 2015, becoming a fixture of the festival circuit with her band The Poor Mountain Boys.
