Wild Mountain Honey (Engelhardt Music Group EMG 10800, 2022) is the sophomore album from RiverBend, a traditional bluegrass quintet from the St. Louis, Missouri area — a band whose name references the bend in the Mississippi River near which they formed. Aaron Muskopf on guitar, Andy Novara on mandolin, Blake Korte on resophonic guitar, Kris Shewmake on banjo, and Will Miskall on bass deliver a 12-track program of traditional-style bluegrass with clean ensemble textures and close vocal harmonies. Reviewed in Bluegrass Today and Bluegrass Unlimited, the album builds on their 2019 debut Cabin in the Southland and places RiverBend within the current of regional Midwestern bluegrass bands working the traditional end of the contemporary circuit.
