Wired! is a 1990 Rounder Records album (CD 0281) by Livewire, a progressive bluegrass quintet formed in 1989 by Scott Vestal following his tenure with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. The ensemble — Vestal (banjo, vocals), Robert Hale (guitar, lead vocals), Wayne Benson (mandolin), Ernie Sykes (bass, vocals), and Blaine Sprouse (fiddle) — presents original material and selected covers in a contemporary bluegrass style incorporating amplified instrumentation and country-inflected production. The group's only album, Wired! documents a brief but significant entry in Vestal's career before he became one of the most influential banjo players of his generation through subsequent solo work, studio recordings, and a decades-long association with IBMA circles.
