“Come Hither to Go Yonder” is an instrumental written by Bill Monroe, the founder of bluegrass. It belongs to the run of original instrumentals Monroe composed across his long career with the Blue Grass Boys.
Like Monroe’s other instrumentals, the tune is built for the band’s interplay — mandolin, fiddle, and banjo trading the melody — and carries the hard, driving feel he gave the music. Its odd, folksy title is in the plainspoken mountain manner.
The tune passed into the bluegrass instrumental repertoire. The version heard here is by the guitarist Dan Crary.
