Hilton Valentine was an English guitarist and the original lead guitarist of the Animals, whose ringing, arpeggiated guitar introduction to “House of the Rising Sun” became one of rock's most recognizable openings. In later decades he returned to his roots, recording acoustic skiffle and folk material under the name “Skiffledog.”
