John Cohen
John Cohen was an American old-time musician, photographer, and filmmaker.
- Born on August 2, 1932; died on September 16, 2019.
- Was a founding member of the New Lost City Ramblers in 1958.
- Made the seminal 1962 documentary “The High Lonesome Sound” about Roscoe Holcomb.
- Was a Guggenheim and Fulbright fellow, taught for 25 years at SUNY Purchase, and was an art photographer whose work is held in the Metropolitan, MoMA, and Getty collections.
