John Reedy was a Kentucky-based bluegrass and old-time singer and bandleader who fronted the John Reedy String Band on a series of Starday and King-affiliated recordings in the 1950s and 1960s. He is credited as the source for the gospel song “Somebody Touched Me,” which has since become a fixture of the bluegrass-gospel repertoire through cuts by the Stanley Brothers, Larry Sparks, Ralph Stanley II, and many others.
