Alaya, released in 2018, is a project from Bobby Britt, the Nashville-based fiddler who built a reputation through years of session work and touring within the professional bluegrass and Americana worlds. Britt's fiddle playing is rooted in the bluegrass tradition but informed by the broader range of styles that a Nashville career requires. 'Look Up Look Down That Lonesome Road' connects the album to the old-time and gospel tradition from which so much bluegrass vocabulary derives, while 'When I Die I'll Live Again' places it in the sacred repertoire that has always provided bluegrass with its most durable emotional framework.
