All That Will

Shadowgrass

Album · 2024

Shadowgrass released All That Will on 4 October 2024, its second album after the self-titled debut of 2022. The band began in 2014, when banjoist Clay Russell, mandolinist Luke Morris and guitarist Kyser George, then 13, 14 and 9 years old, were jamming at the Grayson County Fiddler’s Convention in Elk Creek, Virginia. Fiddler Madison Morris, who also sings and writes songs, and bassist Evan Campfield joined later, and Luke Morris and Madison Morris trade lead vocals.

The group had built a large following on social media through its instrumental playing, and said it felt pressure to make a record that was its own. Dropping those expectations and writing for its own enjoyment, in the band’s words, was the key to this album, which deals with anxiety and uncertainty and with questioning who the members want to become. The nine tracks include “Pleasantly Aimless,” “Uncertain Times” and, last, “Highway of Regret.”
