Another Happy Day (Wam Records 69.024) is a studio album from Bill Clifton, the Riderwood, Maryland-born vocalist and guitarist who became one of bluegrass's most important international ambassadors through his extensive performing career in the United Kingdom and Europe, recorded on the European label that documented his overseas work. Clifton plays guitar and sings; William "Red" Rector plays mandolin; Jean-Blaise Rochat contributes additional instrumental work. Red Rector — one of the most admired mandolinists in the hard-core traditional style, associated with Charlie Monroe and later recorded extensively for himself — brings the same Monroe-influenced mandolin approach to these European sessions that he had developed through decades of performing in the Appalachian tradition. The album presents the traditional repertoire in the direct acoustic setting that Clifton had been carrying to European audiences since his pioneering international performing career began in the early 1960s.
