Another Happy Day was recorded on 15 July 1975 at KA Studios in Roanoke, Virginia, by Bill Clifton and the mandolinist Red Rector, with Billy Edwards on banjo, Tater Tate on fiddle and John Palmer on bass. Clifton, who was born in Riderwood, Maryland, plays guitar and sings the lead, with Rector singing harmony. County Records issued it in 1976 as County 758, and a UK edition appeared the same year on Breakdown 001 with the twelve songs in a different order.
The twelve songs include A. P. Carter’s “When the Springtime Comes Again” and the traditional “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown” alongside “Happy Days,” credited to Clifton, and “I’ll Be True While You’re Gone,” credited to Clifton and Rector. Bob Wills’s “I Wonder If You Feel the Way I Do,” the Bailes Brothers’ “Remember Me” and Tom Gray’s “Silence or Tears” are also on the record.
Clifton moved with his family to England in 1963 and toured the folk clubs of Europe, and in the 1970s Rector travelled to Europe with him. The two also recorded In Europe in Germany in March 1976.
