Antifogmatic is a 2010 album released by Punch Brothers on Nonesuch Records (521980-1). The quintet—Chris Thile (mandolin, lead vocals), Chris Eldridge (guitar, vocals), Noam Pikelny (banjo, vocals), Gabe Witcher (fiddle, vocals), and Paul Kowert (bass, vocals)—recorded the set live at Ocean Way Studios, Hollywood, produced by Jon Brion. The band's second album and first to feature Kowert on bass, Antifogmatic presents ten original compositions developed collectively, shorter and more melodic than the ambitious debut suite Punch. The title refers to a 19th-century remedy said to ward off the ill effects of fog—an apt metaphor for an album that cuts through complexity with melodic clarity and structural invention.
