Back in Business (Hay Holler Harvest Records HHH-CD 105, 1993) is a studio album from mandolinist Herschel Sizemore with an ensemble of Nashville-area bluegrass players suited to his hard-driving traditional sensibility. Sizemore plays mandolin throughout; David Parmley plays guitar and sings lead; Bobby Hicks plays fiddle; Craig Smith plays banjo; and Dale Perry plays bass and sings. Sizemore had been one of the most recorded mandolists in traditional bluegrass since the 1960s, associated with Don Reno and Red Smiley and with a long solo catalog on Rebel and other independent labels. Back in Business documents the chord-driven, high-energy style Sizemore refined across those years — mandolin playing rooted in Bill Monroe's tradition and shaped by decades of experience with some of the hardest-driving bands in the genre.
