Bad Moon Shining is a 2000 album by Dave Evans released on Rebel Records (REB-CD 1757), recorded in 1999 at River Track Studio in Louisa, Kentucky, and produced by Evans and Don Rigsby. Evans (vocals, guitar, banjo)—a Portsmouth, Ohio–born tenor and banjo player who came up through Earl Taylor's band and Larry Sparks's Lonesome Ramblers before forming Dave Evans and River Bend—was making one of several productive late-career returns to the Rebel label. Rigsby contributes mandolin, mandola, fiddle, and harmony vocals; Randy Thomas plays guitar and mandolin; Greg Moore handles fiddle; Mark Poe plays bass. Tracks include "Last Public Hanging in West Virginia" and "Satisfied Mind," showcasing Evans's commanding voice and hard-driving traditional approach.
