Better Things in Life is a 1969 RCA Victor studio album (LSP-4147) by Jerry Reed, produced by Chet Atkins at RCA Victor Studios in Nashville. Reed — a Georgia-born guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist whose fingerpicking technique drew comparisons to Atkins while adding blues rawness and country grit — was still building his commercial profile during this period, several years before the breakthrough hits "Amos Moses" and "When You're Hot, You're Hot" would make him a mainstream star. The album showcases the sophisticated guitar work that had made him one of Nashville's most sought-after session players throughout the 1960s, applying that facility to his own material in the direct, sly style that would eventually define his image as a singer and entertainer.
