Blue Rambler 2 finds the Laurel Canyon Ramblers in mid-career form, the Los Angeles-based ensemble that became one of the most distinctive acoustic acts to emerge from the California music scene in the early 1990s. The group developed a sound that blended bluegrass with old-time, Cajun, and Western swing influences in proportions that felt organic rather than calculated. Their debut Blue Rambler established the band's eclectic but coherent aesthetic, and Blue Rambler 2 continues that exploration with the ensemble's characteristic inventiveness. The California setting shaped their approach — at a remove from both Appalachian tradition and Nashville commerce, the Ramblers could approach American roots music as curious outsiders with genuine love for all of its regional varieties.
